About Us
The name Paribartan suggests change. Let’s be the change we love to see in others! It is painfully observed that aged senior citizens are often neglected by their loved ones. Their wishes for care, respect, appreciation, and yearning to feel important – are not reciprocated by the family. Society remains indifferent. In many cases, senior citizens have to live alone as their children have to be away for works, education and other unavoidable situations. Societal values have eroded to such an extent that some people abandon their parents on streets. Unthinkable! Such happenings around, instilled a dream in the heart and mind of the founder – Ms. Trishna Baruah to do something for proper physical, mental and emotional care of such senior citizens. This way, Paribartan was conceptualized as an old age home in the beginning. Trishna carried this dream of establishing an old age home by the name ‘Paribartan Bridhaashram’ passionately with a never-say-die attitude. Paribartan was eventually formed and registered under the Societies Registration Act. XXI of 1860 in 201 4.
Initial concept of making Paribartan as an old age home alone was reshaped later on. Paribartan now works as –
- a care and recreation home for the elders,
- a skill development centre to empower the rural women
- to nurture the talent of the children in art and craft
- to preserve and enhance the natural eco-system around, and
- to develop a self-sustained hub for organic farming
A plot of land measuring 11520 sq. ft. was purchased at Patgaon area, near Rani in Kamrup district of Assam, India. It’s a rural area with surrounding open fields and distant hills. Friends and colleagues of Trishna soon joined Paribartan to form a team to help materialize the noble mission.
The initial challenge was the approach road starting from the point of Rani gate railway crossing to the Paribartan campus towards village Jabe, Patgaon. The road was an uneven earthen stretch of 3.5 km in length and 66 feet wide containing a dead water canal along. Team Paribartan took initiative with the authority concerned to make this road usable. Paribartan also carried out a massive plantation drive along this road. Now these grown-up trees have given the area a pristine look with greenery around.
At present a recovery room of 900 sq. ft. had been built along with boundary walls around the whole campus. The foundation of the 5500 sq. ft. multi-story main building was laid on March 14, 2020 by the hon’able local MLA of West Guwahati assembly constituency – Shri Ramendra Narayan Kalita. A team of 25 members are working relentlessly for early completion of the construction work as soon as possible. An eleven member executive committee is the apex body.
